To get the best from our tours we suggest you download them at least the day before you go so you can have a quick look at the printed information or view it on your Smart Phone or computer. We also make a few suggestions that we add to the audio tour that you will find at the end. These track Nº's are indicated in the pdf called track by track.
Weather
Make sure you take bottled water and take frequent rests. Cadiz normally has a pleasant sea breeze but you are advised to avoid the sun from 2pm - 5pm in the summer
Modays
MONDAYS you will find the fresh produce market one of the great experiences only half open. There is no fresh fish and many of the other stalls are closed. Some museums are closed on Mondays as are many of the better Tapas Bars and restaurants. This situation is improving.
Cadiz Historic City
Cadiz is probably one of the less well known cities in Southern Europe. Since the Phoenicians man has occupied this small plot of land in southern Andalucia. Cadiz has had many changes in fortune over the last centuries, much of it's architectural beauty today comes from the wealth created from being the sea port for the discovery and colonisation of the new worlds. Cadiz recently again slumped back into hard times with decaying buildings and high unemployment. The last 20 years have seen a concentrated effort to restore the City to it's previous splendour, the old city now is a wonderful experience. There are many historic buildings and museums to visit, great plazas and parks, outdoor theatres, vibrant culture and wonderful bars and restaurants. Plus there is the picturesque Caleta beach and the new city has a boardwalk running for 3kms on the ocean front. The great thing for vistors is that the old city is less than 2km long by 1.5kms wide so easy to explore on foot.
Our Cadiz tour comes with extra information on covering some of the sights you would pass through arriving in the city by either car or bus. The tour route has been set up so there are 2 principal starting points. The bus stop next to the train station and the large Plaza San Antonio above on of the underground car parks. You can use the audio tour to help you navigate towards the Car park as well. We also offer a optional short cut and also a picturesque option to extend the tour with a walk through the gardens.
