OUR ADVICE
To get the best from our guides we suggest you download them at least the day before you go so you can have a quick look at the printed information or view it on your Smart Phone or computer. We also make a few suggestions that we add to the audio guide that you will find at the end. These track Nº's are indicated in the pdf called track by track.
WEATHER
Make sure you take bottled water and take frequent rests. Cadiz normally has a pleasant sea breeze but you are advised to avoid the sun from 2pm - 5pm
in the summer
IMPORTANT - CLOSED
MONDAYS you will find the fresh produce market one of the great experiences only half open. There is no fresh fish and many of the other stall are closed.
Some museums are closed on Mondays as are
many of the better Tapas Bars and restaurants. This situation is improving.
Sample - Conil Voice Track
Cadiz is one of the lesser known cities in Europe. Arguably the oldest continually inhabited community in western Europe. Since the Phonecians man has occupied this small plot of land in southern Andalucia. Cadiz has had many changes in fortune over the last centuries, much of it's architectural beauty today comes from the wealth created by it being the sea port for the discovery and colonisation of the new worlds. Cadiz recently again slumped back into hard times with decaying buildings and high unemployment.
So much so that that a few local inhabitants from some of the surrounding villages won't visit Cadiz as they still think of it as regard it as slum. How wrong could they be, frantic work over the last 20 years or so to bring the city back to it's former splendour has bourn fruit. The small city has attracted new contemporary bars and restaurants, museums and galleries have been restored and the many small plazas returned to their splendour. The city recently has been used as a backdrop for the James Bond film and Tom Cruise
